Lost Nordic Skier in the Santa Fe Ski Basin

At approximately 3pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, a Search and Rescue Mission was initiated to find a 50 year old female skier who had become lost in the Rio Nambe drainage. The Mission was supported by Santa Fe SAR Incident Management Team, Communications Team and Ground Search Teams, in addition to a Ground Search Team from Atalaya SAR.

Missing Hiker Near Abiquiu Lake

On Monday afternoon, November 2,  2015, a mission was launched to find a missing 50 year old woman who had sent text messages to her friend the previous evening that she was lost in an area to the northwest of Abiquiu Lake in the Chama River Canyon Wilderness. She had begun her hike Sunday afternoon intending to hike up the Rim Vista Trail with her dog and after the trail had ended continued to hike along the mesa rim off trail looking for a route off the mesa and back to her vehicle.

Lost Piñon Nut Hunter

On Wednesday evening, October 7, 2015, a Search and Rescue Mission was initiated to find a missing piñon nut hunter in an area southeast of Santa Fe near Canada de los Alamos. The subject was reported missing by his companions earlier in the evening when he failed to return to their vehicle about three miles northeast of the village on FR79.

Lost Mountain Bikers Near Taos NM

At 1:00am Saturday, October 3rd, Santa Fe Search and Rescue was requested to respond to a search mission (15-07-16) for a father and his two sons, ages 10 and 12 who became lost while mountain biking in an area south of NM64 and east of Taos. The father reportedly called his wife around 9:00pm Friday evening and informed her they were lost.

Lost Santa Fe Ski Basin Hiker

At 1am on Saturday, September 19th, 2015, Santa Fe Search and Rescue responders were requested to deploy to the Santa Fe Ski Basin to search for a 60 year-old male who had become disoriented during his Friday afternoon hike. The subject had climbed to a high ridge off trail where he had cell phone service and was in phone contact with Incident Command.

Injured Forest Service camp volunteer, Pecos Wilderness

At 7:00pm on June 30th, 2015, Santa Fe Search and Rescue was called to support a Mission (15-01-04) to extract an injured Forest Service camp volunteer in the Pecos Wilderness north of the Panchuela Campground on the Dockwiller Trail. The subject sustained injuries to her hip and spine after being thrown from her house.

Overdue Elk Hunter

At 4am on Thursday, September 17th, 2015, Santa Fe Search and Rescue responders were requested to support a search for an overdue elk hunter in the west Jemez mountains. A total of four SFSAR responders volunteered to support this search effort. At 9am, it was reported that the subject had been located and all personnel en route to the search area were notified to stand down.

Missing Male Near Pecos NM

A mission call-out was initiated at 11am on Wednesday, September 9th for a 39 year-old male who left his sister’s residence located between Glorieta and Pecos NM. The subject was last seen the previous Friday, September 4th. A total of twelve responders from Santa Fe Search and Rescue supported this mission.

Missing Hiker, Lobo Peak

On Saturday afternoon, September 5th, at 5pm, Santa Fe Search and Rescue resources were requested to support Operational Period #1 for a missing 41 year-old female who became separated from her companions the previous Friday afternoon near Lobo Peak in the Santa Fe National Forest. She was last heard from in a text message to her son at 8pm Friday evening before her cell phone battery was depleted.
